At Sree Kayakalpam Vaidyashala, medicine is not simply dispensed — it is made. More than one hundred classical formulations are prepared in-house, many over a traditional wood-fire cauldron, personally supervised by Vaidyar Shine Bhaskar.

Why In-House Preparation Matters

Classical Ayurvedic medicines depend on precise ingredients, timing and method. Commercial production often substitutes or shortcuts these steps. Preparing medicines in-house ensures the right herbs, the right proportions and the slow, careful processing the texts demand.

The Traditional Method

The wood-fire method allows gradual, even heating that classical recipes call for — drawing out the active principles of herbs into oils and decoctions without scorching. It is labour-intensive and slow, but it preserves potency and integrity.

The Range

The in-house pharmacy includes kashayams (decoctions), arishtams and asavams (fermented preparations), medicated oils, lehyams (herbal jams), gulikas (tablets) and specialised agada formulations for Visha Chikitsa.

This commitment to authentic preparation is at the heart of the Vaidyashala's parampara tradition — and a key reason patients trust its medicines.
